This day highlights the importance of inclusivity, accessibility, and equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities while celebrating their achievements and contributions to society.

The tobacco industry has started to use cultural symbols to connect with its consumers by appealing to cultural identity or patriotism.

In China as of 2017, it was observed that more than 60% of the packs of cigarettes had cultural symbols including Chinese painting styles, traditional animals, such as pandas, and symbols like the lotus flower. In data that was collected in 2022, packaging from Mexico was observed to include the Mexican flag, and traditional animals, or include “Viva Mexico” in the text.

The tobacco industry will use many tactics to expose many to their products.

National Flossing Day takes place each year on the day after Thanksgiving, it reminds us to take care of our teeth and gums. The American Dental Association recommends flossing at least once a day to achieve the best results for oral health. Daily flossing removes plaque from areas between your teeth where a toothbrush can not get to. Flossing is an important step in the prevention of gum disease and cavities so go ahead and do something.

As it starts to get colder and wetter outside, please be sure to remove your child’s coat or jacket before strapping them into their car seats! Extra layers create more room and separation from your child and the harness straps, which can result in injury if you are involved in a crash. Strap them in first without their coats, then cover them with a warm blanket or lay the coat over them afterward!

The California National Guard’s (Cal Guard) Counterdrug Task Force has seized over 5,000 pounds of fentanyl power, and 9.6 million pills containing fentanyl at the ports of entry to California.

California is taking an aggressive stand to end the fentanyl and opioid crisis.

A Yale study found that 4 out of 10 teens who vape tamper with their vaping devices, potentially risking lung injury, and burns, and allowing for covert use of marijuana. Examples of tampering (hacking) include refilling disposable pods and using parts that are not meant to be together. Vaping can negatively impact the brain development of teens. The addiction to nicotine and later conversion (or dual use with) regular cigarettes are the greatest concerns.
