Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) News
Good news – PREVENTION WORKS! In 2018, 7th, 9th, and 11th graders in Solano County reported the lowest use of alcohol, tobacco and cannabis since we began asking them about it in 2003! New 2020 data is being analyzed now to see how the vaping epidemic, legalized adult use of cannabis and COVID-19 have affected youth use in our county. We know that we must keep our prevention efforts strong because young people always have new challenges like these that they need help to navigate.
If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction or use, especially with the stress of COVID-19, check out these resources: Harm reduction resources and COVID 19 and Remote resources for addiction.
The Solano County ATOD Prevention team and its partners invite you to learn more about protecting young people in our county from the negative effects of alcohol and cannabis. Our focus is on policies that reduce youth access to these products.
These are tough subjects for parents to talk about with their teens, and for young people to know what is true and what isn’t. We hope these resources will help parents and teens learn more about alcohol and cannabis, all community members who are concerned about this will join our ATOD.
